We strive to explore opportunities to provide more quality public open space within Kowloon East (KE) for public enjoyment. Within the three major commercial developments sites in KE, including Kwun Tong Action Area (KTAA), Kowloon Bay Action Area (KBAA) and Kai Tak Tourism Node (TN), quality public open space would be provided and some of these will be implemented through the “Public Open Space in Private Development (POSPD)” approach to create synergy and bring more vibrancy to the locality.
The proposed POSPDs in TN include the 45m strip at the southern edge of the site and the River Valley. The two POSPDs will be designed with a theme based on water, with abundant greening and naturalistic landscape design to provide a venue for water recreational/sports activities for public enjoyment.
The POSPDs within KBAA and KTAA will be provided at ground and podium levels with diverse uses for the workers and visitors of the action areas and the general public. The multi-level POSPDs will become an integrated open space and pedestrian network with efficient vertical linkages, not only serving as leisure or gathering spaces, but also facilitating pedestrian movements to different destinations.
