We have completed the revitalization of Tsui Ping River to provide a riverine public space in the urban area created with waterscape, landscape and ecological features, which not only enhance the connectivity of walkable Kowloon East, but also provide a new attraction for the community. The Tsui Ping River facilities along the King Yip Street section and Wai Yip Street section were opened for public use in December 2024, following the earlier opening of the Tsui Ping Seaside and the sections along Tsui Ping Road and King Yip Lane, marking the full opening of the Tsui Ping Riverside Promenade upon revitalization. Together with the completed Tsui Ping River Garden, Kwun Tong Promenade and Cha Kwo Ling Promenade, Tsui Ping River has enhanced vitality and diversity of Kowloon East.
Tsui Ping River is located at the centre of Kwun Tong District, adjacent to Kwun Tong residential area and the flourishing Kwun Tong Business Area. With the life and vitality injected into the river, it has been transformed into to a new landmark where the public can enjoy the river view and engage in leisure activities. Tsui Ping River has become a green river corridor in Kwun Tong. Its design concept is to weave together the adjacent leisure and recreational facilities, and create public leisure spaces centered on the river through seating and viewing platforms on cross-river walkways and landscaped decks.
In line with the concept of "Walkable Kowloon East", we have constructed riverside pedestrian walkways and landscaped decks/walkway spanning across the river to enhance connectivity between the Kwun Tong Business Area and the nearby residential areas. Tsui Ping River runs through Kwun Tong residential area, Kwun Tong Business Area and Kwun Tong Promenade from the north to the south, connecting various cultural, leisure and recreational facilities in Kwun Tong, improving the connectivity and walkability of the area, driving pedestrian flow as well as bringing convenience to residents in the neighbourhood and people working in the district.
To optimize land use and enhance synergy with the Tsui Ping River project, Shing Yip Street Rest Garden was relocated and regenerated as Tsui Ping River Garden to improve the environment and enhance connectivity in the area. The land released from Shing Yip Street Rest Garden together with the adjoining site will be available for development.
Tsui Ping River Garden, with an area of about 5 800 m2, provides various facilities including a covered multi-purpose area, an elderly fitness corner, a featured lawn area, a viewing deck, rain shelters, a small water feature, landscaped areas and other ancillary facilities. The stepped seats next to the multi-purpose area are provided for the public to rest or enjoy the activities to be held there.
The entire Tsui Ping River Garden was opened to the public on 1 March 2019 to provide a cozy public open space for the community.
